The Fiery Road
This section of the site is dedicated to the debut album by Jack Cade, 'This Fiery Road', which is out in the summer of 2011. In this section you'll find lyrics, sleeve notes and a run down of the recording sessions and any other information I decide to throw up here.
The sessions started back at the end of January 2011 at Producer Tom Anderson's studio in deepest darkest Oxfordshire (it was still winter after all). We started the sessions by laying down guide guitar and vocals for all 12 songs selected. That however is about as structured as it got, as we have had a variety of people guesting (go to the players for a roll of honour) and have had to work around when musicians are available, that along with the fact that the process of converting and acoustic set to a full band recording is much like writing the songs again, in fact I would say it's almost harder.
One of the most interesting aspects has been how the songs have grown and changed as we've gone along, most if not all have become better than I could have imagined and some have completely changed from my initial plan.
It's safe to say that Tom's guidance and direction on this project has been immense and he has at time had the patience of a saint, I ain't the most gifted of guitarists and years of roughing by at gigs hasn't helped my technique which becomes sorely exposed in the studio environment. That being said what I lack in technique I make up for in energy and, hopefully, creative ideas.
